Nikon has an amazing competition where researchers and scientists are able to display their magical microphotography skills. The first place winner of the 2017 contest captured fluorescently tagged keratin with aesthetically pleasing detail and color.
One of my favorite images, displayed above, is NOT a detail of a kiddie pool with cute little anchors. It is a polarized light image of Synapta (sea-cucumber) skin at 100x magnification!!! Check out the contest winners HERE.
